Bexhill 2 travelled to Horsham to take on their 3rd team in the Mid Sussex 2nd Division.
The team contained 2 players, Mike Hayward and Sam Merchant making their league debuts for Bexhill.
Sam, on board 4, faced a very experienced player with a rating 360 higher than his.
Unfortunately Sam lost a piece early on and, despite battling hard, was not able to recover and eventually had to concede defeat.
Mike on board 3 played against an opponent rated at 1750 who has not lost in the league this season. Mike played very well and fully deserved his draw.
On board 2 Steve Merchant continued his excellent recent run of form which has seen him not lose a game in his last 9 [ league and Blackpool Congress ] .
Steve continued this fine run by gaining a draw against a player rated 185 points above him.
On Board 1 Leo fought hard but eventually had to concede defeat.
The final score was Horsham 3 Bexhill 1.
