Another win for Bexhill 1!

The A team hosted Eastbourne 2 on Friday 4th March.

The match should have been held at Eastbourne, but they are having building work done.

First to finish was Janis on board 2. He totally out played his opponent who resigned after

just 22 moves.

I played on board 4 and despite building a stong lead managed to blunder in the end game and had to resign after 44 moves.

Steve Blewitt on board 3 had a tough match but found a great move in the end game which forced a resignation from his opponent.

Andrew on board one had a long battle and in the end gained the half point that ensured the match win.

So the final score was Bexhill 2.5 Eastbourne 1.5.

After 3 matches we are joint top of the league with 3 wins!

Bexhill member heads Sussex

Congratulations to Bexhill chess club member Samuel Merchant who had the honor of playing board 1 for the Sussex under 9s last weekend in their match against the under 11 girls team. Unfortunately the girls were too strong for the boys on this occasion.. but hopefully it gave them a good warm up in preparation for the EPSCA zonals next week. Good luck Sussex!
