{"id":909,"date":"2023-07-17T18:58:56","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T18:58:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bexhillchessclub.co.uk\/?page_id=909"},"modified":"2023-07-17T18:58:56","modified_gmt":"2023-07-17T18:58:56","slug":"the-bughouse-cup-2023","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bexhillchessclub.co.uk\/index.php\/the-bughouse-cup-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"The Bughouse cup 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bexhillchessclub.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/IMG_7934-1024x287.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-910\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New for 2023, we are introducing \u2018The Bughouse Cup\u2019 to our \u2018Chess on the beach\u2019 fun day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The competition will take place at the De La Warr pavilion on Saturday 19th August at 11am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teams must register by 11am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So\u2026 what is Bughouse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a game of two teams of two players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a player captures a piece, they pass it to their teammate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can place one piece on your turn instead of making a move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you capture a promoted pawn, it turns back into a pawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pawns cannot be placed on the first or last rank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The game ends when one player is defeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can place pieces for check but not checkmate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depending on numbers, there will be a mini league followed by a knockout phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two players per team, entry \u00a35 per team. Trophies for the winners, medals for second place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A time of 5 mins plus 3 seconds per move will be given to each board.
