{"id":745,"date":"2023-03-23T21:18:02","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T21:18:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bexhillchessclub.co.uk\/?p=745"},"modified":"2023-03-23T21:18:02","modified_gmt":"2023-03-23T21:18:02","slug":"away-to-worthing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bexhillchessclub.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/03\/23\/away-to-worthing\/","title":{"rendered":"Away to Worthing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bexhillchessclub.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/369CEFB3-35C3-47D2-92A5-7EDB0CEFBF37-1024x768.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-746\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Match report from our captain Bill Tracey:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Monday 16th march our first team travelled to Worthing to take on their 1st team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was always going to be a very tough challenge as Worthing have a large number of very strong players to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our team, in board order was Andrew, Janis, Steve B and Michael H.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scale of the challenge was clear when the relative ratings were compared and Worthing out ranked Bexhill by just over 1000 points.<br>They even had a player on board 4 that has been Sussex champion 6 times!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michael played very well against his illustrious opponent but in the end had to concede defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steve on 3 fought very well against a fast rising young player and earned an excellent draw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Janis on 2 facing an opponent out rating him by 370 points played an outstanding game and had his opponent in a great deal of trouble. Eventually a draw was agreed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andrew on 1 lost a pawn early on but fought long and hard against an outstanding player, but eventually ran out of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Final score Worthing 3 Bexhill 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We now have one match left V Hastings 1.
